SUBW is open to everyone, regardless of whether you are a student or not. Most people join at Welcome Fest at the beginning of the semester, but you can join at any time online.
Membership options:
For anyone with a valid USU Membership: $20
You’ll join Sydney University Bushwalkers (SUBW). This is the preferred and recommended membership type. It is available to everyone with a USU Membership, which you can get (for free!) from the University of Sydney Union as a University of Sydney student. The SUBW membership lasts from the day you join until the end of December.
How to join SUBW:
- Go to the SUBW page on MyUSU. Click Me
- Select the “Ordinary Membership” option
- You will be directed to make a $20 membership fee payment.
- Once payment is successful, you will receive an email from our website in the email registered in USU. An account on our website is automatically created once we receive your payment. Click on the link in the email to set your password and enter your personal particulars.
- Success! You can now join trips through our website.
Without USU Membership: $35
You’ll join Suboir United Bushwalkers Incorporated, which is SUBW’s non-university branch. The Suboir membership is available to everyone. It lasts for 12 months from the date of payment.
Don’t worry, all trips are open to both SUBW and Suboir members!

- Check your emails and click on the link we sent you.
- Pay your membership fee using PayPal or a credit card.
