I am planning on doing Whungee Wheengee Canyon near Mt Wilson.

The plan is to start around 8 am from Cathedral of Ferns campground.

This trip is not for beginners it involves a long walk in and out. The canyon requires abseiling skills, scrambling, short duck under’s and long swims.

The plan is to leave Cathedral of Ferns campground, reverse Wollangambe 1 Canyon exit and up the other side before the day heats up too much. The longest abseil is 20m, and we will exit via the Wollangambe 2 Canyon exit.

The Wollangambe section has a lot of swimming and will require floatation. I find my wetsuit and dry bag are enough.

This is a long day and is considered one of the harder canyons in the area. You need to have your wetsuit and abseiling gear. You can borrow abseiling gear from the club.

I will be heading up to the campground on Saturday evening for the early start on Sunday.
