This is the first course of a series that will include advance techniques including but not limited to build anchor, haul and rescue in an canyon environment.

The course is at the Ledge starting at 5.30pm for about 2h.

Knots to know and practice at home before the course:
Alpine Butterfly
Double Fisherman
Prussik Knot

If you don't already have your prussik loops you need to buy 5 meters of 6mm accessory cord from an outdoor shop. SUBW club has discount at Mountain Design and Mountain Equipment in Kent St. The accessory cord needs to be rated for climbing, your life depends on it, ask a shop assistant if you have any doubts. We will make prussik loops at the beginning of the course.

You will practices ascending and descending on ropes and you will need a harness, descender and 1 spare locking carabiner per pair. If you don't have any of the gear you can borrow it from the club on Thursday night.

If people with experience want to help please send me an email. The course is limited by the number of instructors.

If you have a question contact me by email.
