Hey who wants to form a team for the Lake Macquarie Rogaine? It will be super fun! A bit like the Pubgaine except less beer* and more trees!

It starts at noon on Saturday 20th August in the forest near Mt Vincent north-west of Lake Macquarie. There is the option of doing a 6 hour or 12 hour event. Obviously the 12 hour event finishes at midnight so the last half of the event will be navigating in the dark. Teams are 2 to 5 people, and the cost is $65 per person, or $46 for students.

We will car pool and leave Sydney about 9am Saturday morning to reach the event by about 11am, leaving time for a bite to eat and to get organised. If you do the 6 hour event then you can just return to Sydney in the evening.

If you do the 12 hour event then you probably don't want to drive back to Sydney straight afterwards, so the best option will be to car camp at the rogaine on Saturday night. (I'm heading to Newcastle straight afterwards so can only offer a lift in one direction.) Awaiting further details about camping there, but expect it should be free.

For the rogaine itself you must bring standard lightweight day-trip bushwalking gear such as: compass, map case or equivalent, long pants and/or gaiters, emergency whistle, head torch, food, water. Robust joggers with decent grip or approach shoes are probably best; if you plan to do any running then stiff hiking boots or volleys are a bad idea. Each team must take a first aid kit. Also could be helpful to bring a pencil, eraser, pen, and highlighter to mark up the map. Each person will receive a map as part of the rogaine entry pack.

We will likely have enough people for form a couple of teams with different fitness or experience levels. I've done a couple rogaines before and am hoping to form a team of 2-4 people that are willing to jog the easy bits like fire trails and open forest, and walk the rest and do the 12 hour event.

You must join this SUBW trip by Thursday 11th Aug 9pm because we have to organise teams and then the deadline for submitting the entry forms is Monday 15th Aug. Team captains have to lodge the entry form and entry fee for their team.
