Phone:0419392690
Description:
Blackheath to Pulpit Rock and Govett's Leap. Sunday July 31.

This is a walk primarily for new members joining up at Re-O-Day July 25. They will be given priority. Existing members can join, but I can't 100% guarantee you will be accepted.

Walk from Blackheath Station to Govett's Leap and Pulpit Rock via Pope's Glen (avoids a road bash to Govett's Leap).
Walk should be easy/medium grade; mostly gentle gradients with no really significant climbs along the way.
All on "tourist" tracks.
No previous experience necessary.
You will need 1.5L water, good shoes (Volleys will do), lunch, rain cover - although rain or snow forecast is low at present. It does occasionally snow in Blackheath but looks unlikely this Sunday. Even so, be prepared with warm clothes!! Bring a warm hat. A scarf would be a good idea too.
Current weather forecast is for a sunny day with maximum temperature 14 degrees C.

This walk has great views over Grose Valley in the Blue Mountains. To quote Charles Darwin who did this walk in 1836: "stupendous...magnificent". He thought it even more stupendous than Echo Point.

Trip is planned to be by train but if you want to drive up that is OK; need to be at Blackheath by the time the train arrives. I will provide full details of meeting arrangements etc once you sign up to come. You can expect to be back in Sydney by about 6.30pm.

If you have an Opal Card and have already by Sunday done 10 trips with it in this week, Sunday's train trip will be free. Otherwise it is a $2-50 cap.

You MUST be a member of SUBW or Subwoir. Sign in with your membership number.

And only sign up if you are fairly certain you can come. We take a dim view of "no shows"!
