My co-leader, Andrew Walker and myself plan to do Donkey Mountain in the Wolgan Valley on Saturday the 2nd of July and Mystery Mountain on Sunday 3rd July. Donkey Mt has beautiful refreshing views of Wolgan Valley, and amazing maze of formation of rocky pagodas.

We will drive up early Saturday morning and meet at Lithgow McDonalds carpark at 8am. We will camp Saturday night, and Sunday will climb Mystery Mountain.

You will need a good level of fitness as will be hiking up steep mountainous tracks both days.

If we have time we may do some introductory abseiling nearby.

The essential items to bring are : tent, sleeping bag and air matt, food, water, cooking equipment, head torch, a harness, helmet, descender, gloves for the abseiling, backpack, food, water, head torch, sturdy hiking shoes.

Cold weather clothing and waterproof jacket & pants in case of unexpected showers. Also please carry at least one extra pair of clothing to be in your strong day back pack.

To obtain the essential equipment for this trip if you don’t own any, please log into SUBW's website, and go to "walks programme", then, sign on to the trip, namely "Gear Night Thursday 5-6pm”, and write to the gear officer what gears you want.

As you may not be able to collect your borrowing gear from 5pm to 6pm, on Thursday, i can take them to The Ledge, and wait there from 6pm to 9:30pm for you to collect.

A car pool will be organised, and people can contribute money to the owner/driver.

Your name n telephone will be listed for the purpose of organising car pool. Any objection please let me know. People with cars who are willing to take others will be given preference to join the trip.

This trip replaces Andrew's trip, namely "Wolgan Valley Trip", which was cancelled/deleted by Andrew. Please, the explaination as such: "2 weeks before we posted the trip , we rang Neil, the ranger in charge, and we explained how we will avoid going through the tunnel by abseiling the different route, further south, abseiling down and past the tunnel. Neil said that it would be allowed, as long as we didn't go into the tunnel. We were aware of the risk of disturbing the hibernating bats. That is why we sought out permission from the national parks ranger to see whether us abseiling in from the southern side would interfere with the bats, and did not intended to go into the tunnel. We have deferred this trip now until winter is over.
