Description:
Check out Kosta's announcement https://www.subw.org.au/members/tripDetails.php?tripid=785 and the Navshield website (http://www.bwrs.org.au/?q=NavShield) for details on what the Navshield is. It could be described as competitive bushwalking, or for the less competitive, a really fun way to practise your navigation/getting lost skills. Often held in interesting and less visited parts of the bush.

I did the one day event in 2014 and had a great time, after being busy last year I am now keen to enter a team.

I am agnostic as to entering the one or two day event, depending on what others want to do. I am not fit enough for the pace of the usual winning SUBW two day teams so it would be a slower overnight entry but it would definitely be fun to do the overnight. Either way, it's a bit of a big day out for beginners, so I'd like you to:
- be able to do basic map and compass navigation
- have some experience with bushbashing/off track walking

The entry fee depends on the number of people in the team, for 4 people it would be $50 each. The only other cost is driving down and food, and I have a car and can take people. The location will be announced a week before the event and may be anywhere within 3 hours drive of Sydney. It's possible to drive down either the Friday night or very early in the morning.

Join up and send me a line if you have any questions.
