I'm planning a weekend up the Newnes Plateau exploring some dry(ish) canyons, possibly Zorro and Acoustic near Sunny Side Ridge on Saturday, and drive to the campsite near the dry canyon. It's a bit longer to drive but it's a much nicer campsite. Run through the dry canyon on Sunday morning, and possibly do another canyon nearby afterwards.

The trip involves 4wd driving, getting lost in the maze of fire trails, somehow find the start of the walk, bush bashing, getting lost again, navigate, scrambling, appreciate the amazing canyon, bridging across rocks, get feet wet, maybe get the whole body wet if unlucky enough to fall into the pool, more scrambling, find the exit and somehow find our way back to the car. There are also two or three abseils involved if we are going to do Zorro Canyon, but the rest are just nice easy walk throughs (assume we can find the right way).

To join this trip you need to be reasonably fit, comfortable walking off track, capable of scrambling and abseiling. The trip is not for the first timers but it should be Ok for beginner-intermediate level canyoners. However places are limited due to the exploratory nature of the trip.

Please take all your canyon gear(except wetsuit), camping gear, or organise to borrow from the club.

Priorities will be given to those who have 4WDs as there are a few kilometers of rough trail to conquer to reach the canyons on Saturday. 2WDs are fine for the rest of the trip. The dirt road is in excellent condition from Zig Zag to our campsite last time I checked.
