Ruined Castle Overnight
This trip is already fullDate:12/09/2026 - 13/09/2026
Leader:Liam Kerr
Description:
Hi bushwalkers,
This is a good opportunity for anyone who would like to venture into the awesome world of multi-day bushwalking but has not yet had the opportunity to do so. It is also a fantastic opportunity to start gaining some experience for the club calendar highlight that is the PBT occurring next month.
Wollangambe Crater is a lovely campsite accessed by a relaxed 9km walk each way from Bell station. We will also visit the BFOC (a nearby camp cave) and may even camp in it depending on weather and group preferences.
Beginners who have never camped/done an overnight bushwalk are most welcome. We will walk in to the campsite mid-morning on Saturday, camp the night, and walk out again on Sunday. You will need to carry everything you need for ~24 hours including camping gear, food, and water. You can borrow the majority of what you need for free from the gear locker.
Even if this isn't your first overnight, come along anyway for a lazy weekend camping in a "crater" by the mighty Wollangambe with wattle, a campfire and the stars.
By joining this trip, you certify that you are fit enough to carry a 10-12kg pack over a 9km bushwalk. This is quite easy for most people. If you are unsure if this trip is right for you, send me an email and we can discuss it further. :)
I will send an email out with more details (including how to camp and actually do an overnight bushwalk for first-timers) prior to the walk. In the meantime, if you have any questions please do feel free to email me anytime.
Hope to see you there! :)
(Note: the purpose of this trip is to build skills & experience in the club, if there are not many signups from beginners, it is possible that it will be shifted to something more advanced or cancelled. Hence the "EOI".)
