Sorry for the last minute post.

I'm looking for a small and fast moving group of experienced bushwalkers to retrieve a high altitude balloon for a USYD research team this Sunday. A small amount of reward is offered to cover travel cost and food etc. The location of the balloon is at Kolonga Labyrinth near Mt Hay. To join this trip you must be self sufficient in the bush, competent at Navigation and have plenty of off track walking experience.

We are expecting a long day of walking. Driving out Sydney on Sunday morning before 5 and start walking by 7am,and hopefully get back to car park before dark.

The research team has provided GPS coordination for the position of the balloon and it should be fairly accurate. Unfortunately the balloon landed on a steep hill and it looks like there is some cliff line around the area. Some rope work might be involved, but I'm not too keen to pursue it if the area is too hard to access.

The potential route is heading north of Mt Hay, to Boorong Crags and then turn right and walk along a ridge for about 4km and then drop down to the side of the hill to reach the spot. No matter we find it or not, we will start head back before 1pm.

A bonus if you have a 4WD car.

Please sign up before Saturday morning if you would like to come and I will send you more details.
